Just Vids: Alicia Keys ft. Nicki Minaj- Girl on Fire
I posted Girl on Fire way back, and I mentioned how they left Nicki Minaj out. I just discovered there is an alternate version of the video including her part, so...I post it now! The video is still stupid to me. Nicki Minaj's part doesn't really make it any better (which is not a surprise). I still love the song though.
Just Vids: Kelly Clarkson- Dark Side
I have liked this song ever since I saw Kelly perform it live on an awards show. I forget which one (maybe the Billboard Awards) with that guy playing the xylophone (just know I had to look up how to spell xylophone).
Just Vids: Chris Brown- Don't Judge Me
Shout out to me for receiving over 250 visits yesterday (3/29/13)! Don't judge me for being excited.
Just Vids: Alicia Keys- Brand New Me
Shout out to me for receiving over 250 visits yesterday (3/29/13)! That's a brand new kind of high for Cory's Song.

Just Vids: Tamar Braxton- Love and War
Love and War (Single)
While I am on the subject of the Braxtons, let's talk about Tamar Braxton. Aside from being a big-mouthed, wild woman sometimes, she is also a great singer. She is having a second go around at music with her latest project. The title of this album is Love and War (for now). The 1st single (of the same name) has already proven to be a smash hit for Tamar, becoming a top 10 song on Billboard's R&B songs chart.
Braxton Family Values Returns
Braxton Family Values returned for its 3rd season a couple weeks ago. It follows legendary singer, Toni Braxton and her boat load of sisters. I started watching it last season, and its entertaining. I enjoy their impromptu singing. Tamar, the youngest sister, is really a character. You can check them out Thursdays on We TV at 9/8 c.

Tyler Perry's Temptation

Good Music (3/28/13)
I had not posted anything on Cory's Song for several months, but of course, you know I have still been staying up on music. I have been listening to plenty of new music and I recently got into the whole mixtapes game. Before I really did not consider it to be worth a crap, but since so many of today's new artist have started off on the mixtape circuit, I decided to see what all the hoopla was about. To my surprise, some of the stuff is not half-way bad. So I will talk about a lot of the mixtapes, and EPs (and whatever else the kids are calling them these days) a little bit more on later post.
For now I just wanted to tell you about 2 of my favorite albums to come out in the months since I have been keeping low-key.
First of all I wanted to talk about west-coast rapper, Kendrick Lamar's album good kid, m.A.A.d. city. This album is dope. Its like Boyz in the Hood if it was an album. It takes you on a journey in the life of Kendrick Lamar. At the end of each song there's these skits (they're hilarious). This is my first time listening to music by Kendrick Lamar, but I hear he has been out for a minute now on the whole "mixtape scene". He is a great rapper. He has great flow and his storytelling is very creative. I think he is something like a hip-hop prophet. (he often talks about religion on this album). He gave me a Kanye West type of vibe, (All Falls Down Kanye, not the Kanye of today) with a strong message. I really enjoyed the whole album, but I would have to say Money Trees was definitely my instant favorite. Then in the last skit when Kendrick's mom was talking to him that honestly almost made me cry. All-in-all, this is a great album and I suggest you check it out if you have not already done so.
You already know!!! Brandy Norwood released her 6th studio album, Two Eleven to critical acclaim back in October. If you have been reading Cory's Song, you know I ride for this lady, and could not wait to see what she had in store for me! I have to be honest I just could not really get into Brandy's last two albums (maybe its because they followed Full Moon, and after that everything else is just...you know...not as good) but I could not give up on her. I knew she could comeback.
Well, this time, she did not disappoint!!! October 16 could not come fast enough! I had to get this album. I went out and bought the CD, and popped that bad boy in. The 1st listen, I honestly wasn't getting into it. I was like dang, Brandy! What is wrong baby??? Why can't you get back to your full glory? It sounded weird to me. Her voice had changed so much, again. The songs sounded just spacy to me (for lack of a better term, its kind of hard to explain). The beats were just really empty (they didn't have much going on). It was as if she was singing into space. Some instant stand outs to me on this 1st listen were Slower, which had a great beat, No Such Thing As Too Late, because I really liked her voice on that track, Without You, was the only song that I just absolutely loved, and Paint This House. Even though I liked the songs, the beats were off to me (save for Without You). After Paint This House, that was the end of the standard version. So I was actually disappointed, but luckily I bought the deluxe. But, alas, the songs on there were spacy too. I did however love the song Music, it was just breezy.
That was the 1st listen in the car. Then I got home, and played it again, and loved every freaking song, and have been playing it non-stop ever since.
I don't know, its something with me about Brandy. At 1st I can't get with her when her voice goes through these changes. I was the same way with Full Moon, but now the album is my favorite.
It is hard to pick a favorite off of this one, I love the whole album (save for So Sick...I just don't get it). I will go with Without You since I loved it right off the back. It is a different song for Brandy. When I heard it, I said, "Wow!" she is singing like back on her 1st two albums. " She has not sang like that since....Well,her 1st two albums! I also like Music. It makes me feel like I am on a boat. It gives me R. Kelly Step in the Name of Love, Sade, Luther Vandross, or Frankie Beverly and Mase. Calm and Smooth (if that makes any since). Plus she sounds like she did when she was younger and I love when Brandy can give me those moments when she goes back to young Brandy. I love the whole album though, Paint This House, Hardly Breathing, Wildest Dreams, Wish Your Love Away. Everything! I think it is turning into my second favorite Brandy album, behind Full Moon, and from me, that is saying a lot...
Check out both of these albums.

Game On!
The Game is back on BET for its 6th season. I am mentioning this of course because Brandy is returning to the show opposite Coby Bell as Chardonnay Pitts. I got a chance to check out the 1st episode Tuesday. Ciara made a guest appearance. Tune in to BET Tuesdays at 10/9 p.m. central time.

Just Vids: Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko- Stay
This video is simple enough; Rihanna being sad in a bathtub. The guy singing is Mikky Ekko

Just Vids: Trey Songz- Fumble
Trey uses some nice sports wordplay to describe how he messed up in a past relationship on his latest single, Fumble, which is off of his album Chapter V, in stores now.
Random Rihanna (3/26/13)
I am giving you so much love right now. That's triple RRs. That's RRRRRR. At least its not XXXXXX. (That would be pretty bad).
Just Vids: Pink-Try
I just got into this song recently. Its dope. I like Pink, she always has great songs to me and she always has awesome videos and live performances as well. She's dope. This video is like gymnastics meets dancing, meets martial arts, meets finger painting or something. Let me tell you, these things combined are not too bad at all...I'd say it was... dope.

The Voice Returns
The singing competition show The Voice returns to televison on NBC tonight with new hosts Usher and Shakira. The two are replacing Christina Aguilera (I can't ever spell her name right) and Cee-lo. It premieres tonight (3/25/13) on NBC at 8/7c p.m.
The Voice
Just Vids: Rihanna- Diamonds
I know, that was a half-hearted recap. Next time I will try to do better you guys, I promise, but for now, I think I will just keep it moving. I already posted the lyrics video to this, back in the day, so it is only right that I post the video now. I am aware you might have seen it already (its been out for like 5 months), but its cool, I have to start somewhere. Its my boo boo! (well, in my head, anyway.)
The Recap (3/25/13)
Brandy and fiance Ryan
I have decided to just revisit a few things. Of course I have to talk about my girl Brandy. She got engaged to her long time boyfriend back during the holidays. Never in her wildest dreams. I didn't even post the video to that song so since I am talking about it I will do that now.
Another thing I wanted to touch on was the Grammys, music's biggest night. Now, I did not see the Grammys, but Miguel, an artist that I have spotlighted here, won his first Grammy, for his single Adorn. So congrats on that, even though its kind of late...
Miguel
Random Rihanna (3/25/13)
Since I been gone away so long, I definitely think I should remind you guys how much I love Rihanna. So I'm hitting you guys with a double dose of RR.

I'm Back!
I been gone for a minute now I'm back with the jumpoff (Lil Kim, haha). As I posted earlier, I am sorry, I know I have not posted anything in a long time. I am back. I am in college and it gets kind of rough so I had to take it easy for a little while, but I am back for now, I will try not to have such a long break again. A lot of things have taken place in the world of music since I have been away. It would be a long story trying to recap everything but I think I will try and do a little something, and then just dive back into what's going on now after that. I don't know though, that's a lot, honestly. I might just start fresh with the now. I'm working on that. Back in the day I posted that I would post my Top 40 for the years 2009-2011, and I still will. In addition to those, since I last posted, of course, the year 2012 has ended, so I also have made my Top 40 for 2012. I will post that too, but just know I am not finished.
