Running Through My Mind: An August Afternoon Amidst Agony

Walking is a bitch

I’m hot,

I stink,

Fuck everything.

I don’t want to

Live where I am at

I don’t want another factory job

its time for a change

but how can I bring about the change?

That’s the question unanswered.

I can easily brainstorm solutions,

But the key is in the implementation

Bringing those brilliant ideas into fruition

I find myself at a lost.

Maybe, Perhaps, it best

that I cave and do the regular thing

but it crushes my soul,

you know,

I wonder if the payments I receive

are worth the cost

It seems more expensive,

you know,

on the other hand,

You want to talk about a struggle

Never have I had a more difficult struggle

It is so difficult to work on creative projects,

and have them only to progress a drib at a time,

you know,

a drib here, a drab there

To be the ever humble one,

to know you are building an empire so great

but for others to scoff and degrade you

and you to be at their mercy-

to suck it up

to take it

for them to not grasp the concept of the long-term

you know,

just where is the money right now

for them to make you the source of all their

pre-existing shortcomings and woes because you’re new

but bitch, you was fucked up before I got in the picture.

Its humorous but at the same time,

Its tragic

Life is like that sometimes,

you know,

Just a thought.

How I Got Away

When I woke up that morning, I was in an unknown room

That would happen from time to time on account

of the quantity of vodka I would consume

Surrounding me fearfully fretting my family had to loom

The space with tears abound from the belief that

this was heading

to my sad and certain doom

Father warned if this hairy beast inside

my soul I did not groom

That he and mother dear would soon be

shopping for a tomb

As my sister weeped silently I told them nevermind

their gloom

Then reassured them a season of sobriety

was now suddenly in bloom.

and that’s how I got away.
