Just Vids: David Guetta featuring Sia- Titanium

This song features Sia.  I really like Sia's voice.  Its a little bit creepy, but in a good way.  That's the best way I can explain it...  This song peaked at # 7 on the Hot 100, making it David Guetta's 4th top 10 there.

Just Vids: Nicki Minaj- Va Va Voom

Everybody, look at this! I don't really care for this song, personally, maybe you will, but the video is crazy!  Its Nicki's take on classic fairy tales, I guess you can say.

Brandy, Brandy, Brandy! Interviews- Brandy on the F Word

Brandy did this interview for Music on Demand's The F Word.  She is very eloquent in this interview.  Her speaking voice is nice, here.

Brandy, Brandy, Brandy! Keke Palmer Gushes About Brandy.

Keke Palmer is a huge Brandy fan.  Brandy loves her too, and even said that she would want Keke Palmer to play her in a movie about her life.

Just Vids: Alicia Keys- Girl on Fire

This is the official video. Alicia Keys plays a house mom in it (???).  Furthermore, it does not include Nicki Minaj's rap verses.   I was not expecting this for the video.  It isn't right for this song, I think.  Maybe you will like it.  I still like the song, though.

Brandy Lands an Album on the UK Charts for the 1st Time in 7 Years

Brandy's Two Eleven first week sales were enough to land it on the UK albums chart.  It is her first album to land on that chart since her 2005 The Best of Brandy greatest hits album.  It also debuted at # 4 on the UK r&b chart with little promotion in that country so far.

Brandy, Brandy, Brandy! Vocal Assassin- Brokenhearted Live

Great Performance!  Just Brandy, wailing...

Brandy, Brandy, Brandy! Vocal Assassin- Baby Live

When Brandy was younger, she always did this thing where she descended from a high voice into her deeper voice .   Her singing Baby is a good example of that. I can't even describe how crazy it is!!!  Her deep tones were full and silky smooth too.  Runs like butter...  I like this  one a lot, espescially that thing she does at about 2:40.

Just Vids: Adele- Skyfall (Lyrics)

This song is the theme to the 23rd James Bond movie.  It debuted on the Hot 100 2 weeks ago at # 8.  Did you know that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the release of the very 1st James Bond movie?

Brandy, Brandy, Brandy! Vocal Assassin- I Wanna Be Down Live

Brandy was fearless at the beginning of her career, which equated to some really great live performances. She really added some great ad-libs during this time. Here are some videos of Brandy performing her 1st single. She sang the song a different way both times. In the 1st performance she hit all those really high pretty,  fluttering  bird-like notes that she doesn't hit anymore, now that her voice is gotten much deeper in her adulthood.

Just Vids: Usher- Numb

This is the video to Numb, the 4th single off of Usher's Looking 4 Myself.  The video is pretty cool.  Some of the comments on youtube the people  said it reminded them of the video for We Found Love by Rihanna.  I guess they say that because of the moving clouds and lights while he is standing on the wall.  I see what they are saying.  Its still a good watch.

Brandy, Brandy, Brandy! Vocal Assassin- On Thea

Most of America was introduced to the songstress that is Brandy on the television show Thea.  It began our now 18 year love affair with her voice.  On a very special episode, Brandy gives us her rendition of Anita Baker's Joy.

She also sings Aretha Franklin's classic, Respect.

Brandy, Brandy, Brandy! Vocal Assassin

Watch this video.  Its a compilation of some of the best live vocal performances by Brandy throughout her life.  It's really good.

Brandy, Brandy Brandy! Why I Love Her So Much...

If you haven't figured it out yet, I think Brandy is kind of a big deal...  The reason being she has a beautiful voice.  I am not the only person who thinks this.  Whitney Houston, arguably one of the greatest vocalists to ever live, gave Brandy her stamp of approval from the very beginning.  Also, many of today's biggest stars in the music industry praise Brandy for her vocal performance, and cite her as one of the best (if not THE best) vocalist of her peers.  Everyone from Kelly Rowland to Rihanna, Jazmine Sullivan, Keyshia Cole, Chris Brown, and India Arie. Check out these comments:

http://24hourhiphop.com/2012/04/06/chris-brown-calls-brandy-the-best-female-vocalist-of-all-time/

Ok. Let's just not take the star's word.  Let's look at some of Brandy's vocal performances.

Just Vids: Alicia Keys- Girl on Fire (Lyrics)

Here is the lyrics video to Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys.

Brandy, Brandy, Brandy! Interviews- Sad.

Brandy has said in numerous interviews that she feels like Two Eleven is her last chance in the music industry,  and that is really sad. No one of her talent and accomplishments  should ever have to feel like that.  Brandy is amazing!  She has arguably THE (THE) best voice of any female artist under the age of  35 out today, plain and simple. That is why everyone has to support her latest album.

Music News: The Charts- Billboard Changes the Rules (10/16/12)

One Direction

Only 1 shake-up on the Hot 100 this week- UK boyband, One Direction insert themselves with a # 3 debut. Everything else is the same.

Hot 100
  1. Maroon 5- One More Night
  2. Psy- Gangman Style
  3. One Direction- Live While We're Young
  4. fun.- Some Nights
  5. Taylor Swift- We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
Meanwhile, the R&B/Hip-Hop chart is another story...  Billboard has changed the calculation of this chart.  From my understanding, it WAS basically based on airplay, but NOW is configured like the Hot 100.  They now include things like digital downloads, and social networking sites etc...  So, Rihanna's Diamonds is the new # 1.  (???)  Kanye West surges to # 2 with his latest single, Clique,  and his former # 1, Mercy, also re-enters the top 5, jumping to # 3.  They have changed  all of the charts under the R&B/Hip-Hop section. Now Psy is the # 1 rap song.  (???)  Billboard also added a new chart- R&B songs.  The R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Airplay chart is the closes to what the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart looked like last week.

R&B/Hip-Hop Songs
  1. Rihanna- Diamonds
  2. Kanye West, Jay-Z, Big Sean- Clique
  3. Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha T, 2 Chainz-Mercy
  4. Miguel- Adorn
  5. 2 Chainz featuring Drake- No Lie

The Best of Brandy- # 1

Well, this one is basically a given.  Brandy and Monica tagged teamed for  the most epic cat fight in musical history.  This became one of the longest running # 1 songs in Billboard Hot 100 history, staying at # 1 for 13 weeks. In 2008, it was included in Billboard's 50th Anniversary List of The 100 greatest Hot 100 songs of all time and the list of R&B/Hip-Hop greatest songs of all time.  It was the 1st single off of Brandy's 2nd studio album, Never Say Never, which sold 16 million copies, and became her biggest selling album.  It also won the ladies a Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group.  Not bad for something that they recorded when they were about 18.

    1. Brandy & Monica- The Boy is Mine (1998)

The Best of Brandy- # 2

This single became Brandy's 2nd # 1 song on the hot 100 while peaking at # 2 on the r&b chart.

    2. Brandy- Have You Ever (1998)

The Best of Brandy- # 3

Brandy got to work with her musical idol for the first time, Whitney Houston, recording this song for the soundtrack to the motion picture, Waiting to Exhale.  It peaked at # 2 on both the hot 100 and the r&b charts.

    3. Brandy- Sittin Up In My Room (1995)

The Best of Brandy- # 4

This song peaked at # 4 on the hot 100 as well as topping the r&b chart for 4 weeks, making it Brandy's second straight # 1 there at the time.  It also earned Brandy her first ever Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.

    4. Brandy- Baby (1994)

The Best of Brandy- # 5

This is the song that started it all.  This is Brandy's debut single.  It peak at # 6 on the Hot 100 and spent 4 weeks at # 1 on the r&b charts, making Brandy one of the youngest artist to top the chart.

    5. Brandy- I Wanna Be Down (1994)

The Best of Brandy- # 6

This single was Brandy's last top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 (sad face).

    6. Brandy- What About Us (2002)

The Best of Brandy- # 7

This song is off of Brandy's debut album. It peaked at # 9 on the Hot 100, making it the 3rd single off the album to reach the top 10. It also peak at # 2 on the r&b/hip-hop songs chart. This video is of the remix version featuring Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men.

    7. Brandy- Brokenhearted (1995)

The Best of Brandy- # 8

I just discovered this song in recent years, and it has quickly become one of my favorite Brandy songs ever.

    8.  Brandy- Almost Doesn't Count (1999)

The Best of Brandy- # 9

The title track off Brandy's 3rd studio album.  This video included a pregnant Brandy.  It has always been one of my favorite Brandy videos.  Its beautiful, even still today.

    9. Brandy- Full Moon (2002)

The Best of Brandy- # 10

On Missing You, Brandy collaborated with r&b legends Gladys Knight and Chaka Khan, as well as  Tamia, who, like Brandy, was a newcomer at the time.  This song followed the breakout success of her self-titled debut album and was featured on the soundtrack to Set it Off.  It was nominated for a Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals Grammy, and peaked at # 25 on the Hot 100 (# 10 r&b/hip-hop songs).  The video, like all of my videos so far, are from Youtube.

    10. Brandy, Tamia, Gladys Knight, and Chaka Khan- Missing You (1996)

Vinh is at it again, this time with Miguel's Adorn.  It's short (only the 1st verse) which is a bit upsetting, because they were doing good  (Vinh is a choreographer).

    Vinh Nguyen Zodiac Choreography

When I was looking up Zodiac by Ryan Leslie to post I found this video.  Its Vinh Nguyen, I don't know who he is, maybe a choreographer or maybe just a dancer.  Its crazy!!!  He and some others are dancing to Zodiac.  The choreography is sick!!!

    Just Music: Rihanna- Diamonds

    Diamonds (2012)

Rihanna just released the the audio to the 1st single off of her 7th studio album.  The single is entitled Diamonds.  She is singing in a different way, I would describe it as like someone who yodels.  It feels appropriate that she bust out a yodel at the end of this track, but she didn't.  Its pretty dope, still.  Listen for yourself.

    Best of 2008: # 1

As you know, I love some Alicia!!! She just did it for me with her 3rd studio album, As I Am.  I already consider it a classic! After No One, I thought there is Nothing that can be better than this! This is it! The end-all-be-all! Then comes this!!! This song replaced No One at the # 1 spot on the r&b/hip-hop songs chart, stretching Alicia Keys' reign over R&B music to 17 consecutive weeks!!! OOOOOOOhhhhhhhhh!!!! I love this song!!! Sing it to me, Alicia, baby!

Like You'll Never See Me Again

    Best of 2008: # 2

Keyshia Cole dazzled the R&B world again in 2008, when Just Like You's 4th single, Heaven Sent, became the 3rd song off the album to top the r&b/hip-hop songs chart.  It bested her previous single, I Remember, by staying put for 9 straight weeks at # 1.  It is her most successful song on that chart to date.

    Best of 2008: # 3

Mariah shows us a funnier side all while breaking Elvis Presley fans' hearts.  This became MC's 18th # 1 song on the hot 100.  (Only the Beatles have more).

    Best of 2008: # 4

Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown, ripping this song to shreds with their vocals!!! Tell me how I'm supposed to breath when Jordin Sparks is singing so amazingly!!! Take my breath away.

    Best of 2008: # 5

Lil Wayne is everywhere on my countdown...Why? Because its 2008, and Lil Wayne is the king of music in 2008, duh! I didn't think Love in this Club could get any better, but then comes Love in this Club Part II??? Wow!!!

    Best of 2008: # 6

I still sing this song when I forget how to spell independent.

    Best of 2008: # 7

Keyshia Cole's 2nd album, Just Like You is, and always will be, the highest point in her career as far as I am concerned.  The album's 1st single, Let it Go was her most successful single ever on the Hot 100.  Then for the 3rd single off the album she releases I Remember, which stayed at # 1 on the r&b/hip-hop songs chart for 7 weeks, her biggest hit on that chart at the time.

    Best of 2008: # 8

Weezy Wee hooked up with Bobby V. to make a classic! This ode to female law enforement.

    Best of 2008: # 9

A self-motivating anthem for the ages! This song was HUGE!!! It equalled to about 7-8 more months of me hearing non-stop T.I. on the radio following Whatever You Like (which I got really sick of! That's why it did not make my list. I have learned to love it again though after not listening to it for a few YEARS!)  T.I. was one of  the biggest rappers in music before he went to jail. What a shame.

    Best of 2008: # 10

It's Rihanna with one of her most catchy tunes!!!  I know if I listen to it I will become momentarily addicted to it all over again.  So sometimes, I try to resist the urge, less it be stuck in my head for days.

My Top 40 Countdown!!!: Best of 2008 (10-1)

We made it to the top 10! # 10 at 7pm (central).

    Best of 2008: # 11

Danity Kane was about to EXPLODE when Damaged came out!!! Diddy broke them up though.  Too bad, there 2nd album, Welcome to the Dollhouse, had debuted at # 1 on the Billboard 200 and Damaged became there biggest hit, becoming there 1st single released internationally, where it did well in several markets, and peaked at # 10 on the Hot 100. What a shame.

    Best of 2008: # 12

I'm not gonna write you a love song
    Cuz you ask for it
    Cuz you need one

(random lyrics strike again). Warning: This song is extremely catchy!

    Best of 2008: 13

This song became Lupe Fiasco's first commercially successful single, peaking at # 10 on the Hot 100 (# 19 r&b/hip-hop).

    Best of 2008: # 14

The Dream was coming with the heat on his 1st album!  This was the 3rd top 10 song on the r&b/hip-hop songs chart from his debut album, Love Hate.

    Best of 2008: # 15

T-Pain makes another visit to my countdown. This time Lil Wayne is featured on his song.
