"Adorn" Official Music Video

I posted another video for Adorn by Miguel (see Miguel Friday: Adorn).  If you remember, I said I was not sure if it was the official music video for the song, now I know it isn't.  It appears that Miguel has just posted the official video on his VEVO today (7/31/2012).  Here it is.

What's the 411? Turns 20

I read on one of my favorite blogs, Rap Radar, that Mary J. Blige's debut album, What's the 411?, turned 20 over the weekend. That equals 20 years going strong for Mary.  Since then she has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide.  In honor of this celebration, I am posting Love No Limit by Mary J. Blige.  It is off of What's the 411? and is one of my favorite songs by her.  I have posted a link to the article as well.

Music News: Music in July

I have been slacking on the music news, I know.  I have just been trying to post plenty of videos just so I can get my feet wet. I am still new to this blogging thing. Its been hard trying to find videos everyday and look up the latest music news, then write something about them.  I decided to just do a recap of some music news stories that took place in July.
On the billboard hot 100 chart, most of the songs in the top 5 have not budged, staying in the same position for the last 2 weeks.  Carly Rae Jepsen with Call Me Maybe at # 1, Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa at # 2 with Payphone, Katy Perry at # 3 with Wide Awake.  But Ellie Goulding and Gotye with Kimbra have flip-flopped.  Gotye's Somebody I Used to Know drops from 4-5 and Ellie Goulding's Lights rises 5-4.  On the top r&b/hip-hop songs chart, Mercy by Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha T, and 2 Chainz has been on top for the last 2 weeks.  Usher's Lemme See with Rick Ross rises 3-2, 2 Chainz featuring Drake No Lie slips 2-3, Usher's Climax stays at # 2 for the last 2 weeks, and Wale, Rick Ross, Meek Mill and T-Pain kick J. Cole and Missy Elliot from the # 5 spot.  So if you didn't quite follow that, here's how the charts looked this week and last week:

Just Vids: Colbie Cailat- Brighter Than the Sun

I just recently found out that this song was by Colbie Cailat.  At first, it was just "that song from the commercial". Then I found out it was from her.  I just watched the video, too, and I am glad she was outside a lot in it.  That's the way I envisioned it in my head.

Chris Brown - "Dreamer" - 2008 Beijing Olympics

The web is abuzz over the 2012 Olympic Games in London.  On Yahoo, it says America has already won 17 meadals (7/31/2012).  I just can't wait until track & field starts.  Anyway, in the spirit of this time, I have posted Dreamer by Chris Brown.  It is a song he recorded for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing  and it is truly inspirational.  The video is a cool compilation of the best moments from the games.    If you want to keep up with the games, like me, I have posted a link to the Olympics' website and NBC's Olympic website.  You can check out photos,  view the schedule and view videos of everything.

Just Music: Keyshia Cole featuring Lil Wayne- Enough of No Love

Here is another new song.  Its by Keyshia Cole assisted by Weezy F- you know the rest (oh you don't? baby!!!!).  It is quickly climbing the top r&b/hip-hop songs chart, where it jumped more than 10 spots this week and now sits at # 21.  This is just the audio, the video has not been released yet, but has been shot.  Earlier this week a teaser for the video was released on youtube.  I have posted it as well.

Think Like A Man Soundtrack: Jennifer Hudson and Ne-Yo featuring Rick Ross- Think Like A Man

Promo Picture

I want to talk about the movie Think Like a Man.  This movie is one of the funniest I have seen this year.  Kevin Hart is a fool in it!  Its based off of Steve Harvey's bestselling book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.  I love to see all this black star power!  If you haven't seen it, check it out.  Here is a link to the movie's website  http://www.thinklikeaman-movie.com/.  Another thing about this movie, is it has a great soundtrack.  So, I decided to post the singles from it, because I love them.   This is the movie's theme song.

Live: Jojo- Leave (Get Out)

Here is Jojo again, at the same place, performing her first single- Leave (Get Out).  She released this back when she was just 13 years old.  At the time it peaked at # 12 on the hot 100 and went to # 1 on the billboard pop songs chart, making her the youngest artist to have a # 1 in history.  There has been great growth in her voice since then.  Listen.

Live: Jojo- Disaster = Amazing!

I posted the music video for this a couple of days back (see Jojo Disaster).  Now this is Jojo performing Disaster live.  It is my favorite version of her performing this live that I have seen so far.  I think she was a little sick in this video (a cold or something) but her voice is still amazing.  If you know about Jojo, you can tell that her vocals are so much stronger than when she was younger.  It seems like she is kind of singing too fast- faster than the music- but its still all good.

Miguel Friday: Sure Thing

Of course, I saved the best for last.  This song put Miguel on the map.  It managed to reach # 36 on the hot 100, but did much better on the r&b/hip-hop songs chart, where it peaked at # 1.  It was ranked the # 1 song of 2011 on billboard's year end charts.  Most importantly, it has become one of my favorite songs of all freakin' time!  You can bet that, never gotta sweat that.

Miguel Friday: Arch N Point

This song can be found on Art Dealer Chic Vol. 2.  I posted a link earlier.  (see Miguel Friday: Art Dealer Chic).  Good Music.

Miguel Friday: Gravity

Listen to this song from Miguel's Art Dealer Chic.  I can't get enough of it.

Miguel Friday: Adorn

I am not sure if this is the official video for this song, based on the fact it is not posted on Miguel's vevo, but this video was on demand...  It's from Art Dealer Chic Vol. 1 (see Miguel Friday: Art Dealer Chic).  I am assuming that this might be made into an official lead single for an upcoming album, since I have been hearing it on the radio, and it is now climbing the top r&b/hip-hop songs chart (now at # 31), but again, I am not sure. He performed this song at the concert I went to, and its dope.

Miguel Friday: Art Dealer Chic
