Dawn Richard first came into the spotlight on MTV's reality show Making The Band, where she was chosen to be one-fifth of the girl group Danity Kane. After 2 platinum albums, Diddy disbanded the group, and Dawn was gone for a little while but formed a new group with Diddy and a second vocalist. They released a critically acclaimed album, Last Train to Paris. Sales weren't terrible, but still they weren't what Diddy expected, and the group disbanded. Dawn was shelved and would have more than likely had to wait years before releasing a solo project. Instead of waiting, Richard decided to split from Bad Boy and Diddy, to embark on a solo career independently. She released her 1st mixtape, The Prelude to A Tell Tale Heart, and then the EP, Armor On in 2012. It managed to chart on the Billboard 200 albums chart. At the top of the year she released her full-length album, Goldenheart, which also debuted on the Billboard 200, charting higher than Armor On. Richard says that Goldenheart is set to be the 1st album in a trilogy. The others will be titled Blackheart followed by RedemptionHeart. Dawn Richard's music videos are very theatric and creative, her music is nice and mellow and her vocals are always on point.
